HLPC, FSPN to 'seal deal in two days'

KATHMANDU, AUG 22 - The High-level Political Committee and the Federal Socialist Party Nepal (FSPN) on Thursday reached an understanding to ink a deal within two days. During talks with the HLPC , the FSPN said that it was ready to join the November 19 election if its demands were addressed.

FSPN General Rajendra Shrestha said the talks with the High Level Political Committee ( HLPC ) held on Thursday were positive. "Today's talks were positive," said FSPN General Secretary Shrestha, talking to eKantipur. "The HLPC and government will do further homework within the next two days before sitting for another round of talks to create environment for elections." The party has demanding that the four-party committee should be dissolved and a committee comprising members from all the political parties should be formed and the number of Constituent Assembly members should be increased to 601. "All we are saying is the constitution should be conducive," General Secretary Shrestha said. "Unconstitutional power centers should be dissolved and unconstitutional activities should be stopped. We can participate in the elections if these conditions are fulfilled." FSPN Chairman Ashok Rai, Vice Chairmen duo Durga Mani Dewan and Hem Raj Rai, among other leaders, were present during the talks convened at Constituent Assembly building in New Baneshwor. Likewise Nepali Congress President and HLPC coordinator Sushil Koirala, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Raguji Panta, among other leaders, showed up at the meeting.
